The Daily Pawtrait

Every day is a holiday—you just might not know it yet.

This project automatically discovers the day's holiday, generates a themed AI-edited photo of my cat, and publishes it to a public gallery. Some days celebrate familiar occasions. Others surface wonderfully obscure observances I would have never discovered otherwise. Either way, it's a small daily dose of delight.

I built the first version over a weekend as an experiment in AI-powered product development, automation, and creative coding. The application combines a holiday calendar, image-generation pipeline, automated publishing workflow, public gallery, and waitlist system into a single experience.

As AI coding tools become more capable, I've become increasingly interested in how experienced developers can use them as force multipliers. My background in software development, data visualization, and product design allows me to collaborate effectively with AI because I understand system architecture, can identify when generated code is incorrect, know how to debug complex issues, and can ask increasingly precise questions to move a project forward. AI accelerated implementation, but the product vision, technical decisions, workflow design, and overall user experience remained firmly in my hands.

What started as a fun side project has become an ongoing playground for exploring how AI can help experienced builders ship ideas faster. Next up: support for user-submitted pet photos, personalized galleries, and daily holiday images for pets everywhere.
